Our Programs

The Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC) program welcomes boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 12. Cadets come from many different backgrounds to share a common interest.

Make friends                                                     Have fun

Our cadet program uses a naval theme as a platform to develop good citizenship, leadership, teamwork, and respect for others.

Cadets learn many skills through fun activities which may include camping, music, sports, parades, first-aid, seamanship and communications.

The Bowmanville Navy League Cadet Corps (pronounced “core” – that’s what we call each group) meets Mondays each week from September to June. There may be additional meetings for specific training such as music, competition training, etc.

To help fund Navy League Cadet programs and cover the costs of uniforms, cadets and their parents are required to participate in fundraising activities. Cadet uniforms are provided; cadets are required to maintain their uniforms and return them when they leave the program.

For information about joining, visit the Navy League Cadet Corps - Challenger website.

The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps (RCSCC) is a civilian youth program for teens ages 12 through 18.

RCSCC Bowmanville meets Wednesday evenings from September to June. Cadet training may include community service, teamwork, seamanship, leadership, fitness and sports, marksmanship, drill, instructional technique and small craft operation. Many of these subjects are taught by experienced senior cadets.

There are opportunities to travel during the summer for advanced training in these and other areas, such as military band, boat repair and diesel engine repair and operation. Courses range in length from two to eight weeks. There are even opportunities to work on board ships, travel to other countries or to be hired as staff to conduct the summer training.

Its FREE to join! Uniforms are provided and are required to be returned when the cadet leaves the program. Cadets are required to participate in fundraising activities to pay for non-mandatory training activities.

Cadets who join RCSCC Bowmanville are not part of the military nor is there any expectation that they join the military at any time in the future. Under no circumstances can cadets be called to serve with the Canadian Forces, at home or abroad.

For information about joining, visit the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets - Bowmanville website.
